Like A Virgin - Week 1 NFL Picks

I know, by the title of this entry you likely assume this is Diddy posting. Sorry to disappoint, you'll have to look elsewhere to see who that mush likes in Week 1.

Ah yes, Week 1 - it's been a long off season and thank Jesus football is back. It's also the time of year where you have no idea what to expect out of almost any squad. It's like being a virgin - so many questions about how things will go down. Can Haynesworth in the middle neutralize the Giants running game? Will Kyle Orton be this year's Matt Cassel and help the Broncos cover? Does she want to let it dry on her face? Fortunately the oddsmakers are in much the same situation and just as nervous about their own performance - you can make some serious plays if you identify the discrepancies. Here's where I am laying down today:

3 Team Teaser - My favorite NFL bet, and there are 3 clear teams I am loving today. I'm throwing down 2 units on this 6.5 point tease to pay out +140.

Kansas City at BALTIMORE: I like the Ravens a bit straight up at -13.5, but I think they are a sure thing at -6.5. At home, Flacco has looked sharp, and future UFL backup Brody Croyle is under center for the Chefs.

PHILADELPHIA at Carolina: I know, beware the road favorite. That's why you tease this to a significant road dog. The Panthers D can't hang with the speed of the Eagles O, and the Birds at +5 hits easy. DeSean Jackson and well rested Brian Westbrook each end up with over 100 yards and the Eagles roll.

SAN DIEGO at Oakland: LDT absolutely owns the Raiders, and this time around will be no different. The Bolts at -3 is a safe play. I think Run DMC will rack up some yards, but expect at least 2 JaMarcus picks. I never like waiting until Monday night for the results of a bet, but this one won't leave you sweating.

Unders - Team offense is a bit sloppy this early on in the season, so the Under can be a good play. I'm putting 1 units on a 2 team 6 point tease at -110.

Detroit at New Orleans: Under 55.5. I'm thinking a 35 - 14 final score is as high as this one will go.

Miami at Atlanta: Under 50. The Fins are solid on D and the Falcons should be better than last year. I'm not seeing more than 35 total points.

Let's hope we last longer than 90 seconds, and get things rolling with a few victories...
